Le Wai Tian: The KL Hokkien Mee Hunt

It's been a few years since I had the KL Hokkien Mee in Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur and I am still thinking about it! It's just one of those life defining moments for me. The crispy pork lard was so good, the savory flavor literally explodes in your mouth synergizing perfectly with that gravy to leave a wonderful taste sensation on your palate while the aroma slowly wafts up your nostrils. Mmmmm.... I can still remember it today.

I have been looking for a decent plate of KL Hokkien Mee in Singapore, but have so far been disappointed. Somehow, no one here seems to realize that there is a real good food opportunity here that is still left unchallenged?

Anyway, I am on a renewed quest to look for the best KL Hokkien Mee in Singapore. There have been very few leads so far. This stall is famous more for the Fish Head Steamboat than the KL Hokkien Mee per se, but it was close to home and I was desperate so it was shot in the dark. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually not bad! OK, it is still far from the ultimate KL Hokkien Mee, but the sauce was thick and savory and pork lard is decent (before you get carried away, I did not eat that many, I merely savor the one or two....or three). 4/5

Conclusion

Not a bad KL Hokkien Mee. It managed to satisfy the craving. But now the gauntlet is cast. Who can recommend the best KL Hokkien Mee in Singapore? Or do we have to instigate some Cze Char Hawker to introducing a die-die-must-try one?
